The short version: what you type into Life stays on your phone. It is not uploaded, not read by us, not sold, and not used to train anything. If you connect Google, Life syncs the events and tasks you ask it to create — nothing more — and sees your Google account email to do that correctly. No analytics, no ads, no tracking.
Life ("the app") is an iPhone and Android application developed by Barret ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information. If you have questions, contact us at the address at the bottom of this page.
Everything you type into Life — thoughts, tasks, reminders, notes, ideas, shopping lists, appointments — is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage.
Sorting and categorising happens on your device. The app works out what your text means using rules built into the app itself. Your text is not sent to a server to be interpreted, scored, or classified, and it is not used to train any model.
We cannot read what you write in Life. We have no server that stores it and no ability to retrieve it.
Connecting Google is optional. The app works fully without it; if you skip it, appointments and tasks are simply saved on your device.
If you choose to connect, Life requests these permission scopes in a single sign-in:

TasksWe use these only for events and tasks you explicitly asked for by typing them into the app. Life does not read your existing calendar or task history beyond what it needs to file new items correctly, does not scan your schedule, does not delete or modify items it did not create, and does not send your calendar or task data anywhere except to Google's own servers as part of the sync you asked for.
Life also sees the email address tied to the Google account you sign in with. This is used only to authenticate you and to build correct links back to your own calendar — it is not sent anywhere else, not sold, and not used for advertising.
Authentication is handled by Google. Access tokens are stored on your device by Google's own sign-in library. We never see your Google password, and we do not store your Google credentials on any server of ours — we have no server.
What Google user data Life accesses: the email address of the Google account you sign in with; the names and IDs of the calendars on your account (to offer you a choice of where to file events); the calendar events Life itself creates or updates at your request; and the Google Tasks Life itself creates, renames, completes, or deletes at your request.
How Life uses that data: solely to provide the user-facing sync feature you connected — creating and maintaining the events and tasks you typed into the app, on the calendar you chose, under the account you signed in with. It is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or to train any AI or machine-learning model.
Who we share, transfer, or disclose it to: no one. Google user data is exchanged only between the app on your device and Google's own APIs. We have no server, so no copy ever reaches us, and we do not share, transfer, sell, or disclose Google user data to any third party. The only exceptions would be those required by applicable law.
How we protect it (data protection mechanisms): all communication with Google's APIs uses encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections. OAuth access tokens are issued and stored on your device by Google's own Sign-In library, in the operating system's protected app storage (Keychain-backed on iOS; app-private, sandboxed storage on Android) — we never see or store your Google password, and no Google user data or credentials are stored on any server of ours, because we operate none. Any Google-derived data cached inside the app (such as an event ID Life created) lives in the app's private, OS-sandboxed storage on your device and is removed when you disconnect Google or delete the app.
Life's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, data obtained through Google APIs is:
You can disconnect Google at any time from Settings → Connections → Disconnect in the app. You can also revoke access at your Google account permissions page. Disconnecting stops any further calendar and task access immediately; events and tasks already created remain and are yours to edit or delete.
The app itself has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking pixels. We do not know how many times you open the app or what you write in it.
The only information that leaves your device is what's described above: if you connect Google, your account email and the calendar events or tasks you explicitly create are sent to Google's own servers as part of that sync — never to us, and never for advertising or tracking.
If this ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and material changes will be made clear in the app.
Separately from the app: if you enter your email address on this website, we store that address for one purpose — to email you when Life is available. We do not sell or share it. Reply to any message, or contact us below, and we will delete it.
Life is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Because your data lives on your device, uninstalling the app deletes it. You can also clear it from Android's app settings. There is no server-side copy for us to delete, because there is no server.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
